Power supply sizing, fuse ratings, wire gauge, and voltage drop calculations are based on published manufacturer specifications and standard electrical formulas, with a safety margin applied. Actual results depend on your specific hardware, wiring quality, ambient temperature, and installation conditions. For mains-powered, permanent, or large-scale installations, always have your wiring reviewed by a licensed electrician before energizing it.
While we use real manufacturer current-draw specifications and cross-check our formulas, LED strip specifications vary by manufacturer and batch. We make no guarantee that any calculation, recommendation, or guide on this site is complete, current, or error-free for your specific hardware.

Addressable LED strips draw real current, and undersized power supplies, missing fuses, or thin gauge wire are genuine fire risks — this is exactly why the calculators exist. As general safety practice: always fuse the 5V (or 12V/24V) injection line close to the power supply, never exceed a manufacturer's rated run length without power injection, and check strip and connector temperature after the first hour of operation on any new build. These are general best practices, not a substitute for manufacturer instructions or local electrical code.
Current draw and color output can vary between LED strip manufacturers and even between production batches of the same product. Our calculators use published typical specifications with a safety margin built in, but always leave headroom in your power budget rather than sizing a supply to the exact calculated minimum.
